RTA Educational Innovation Research

Call for Proposal:

Remote and Hybrid Instruction

The goals of this program are to 1) foster innovation in the DVM, undergraduate, and graduate curricula, and 2) support teaching and learning-focused scholarship by scholars involved in the educational missions at the RTA’s member CVMs. Applications of teams with scholars from two or more RTA member colleges will receive special consideration. Inclusion of graduate students and DVM students as investigators is encouraged.

Funds are available for 3-5 projects with a budget range, per proposal, of $2,000-$15,000. The focus is on educational innovation in the framework of hybrid and remote instruction.

Reviewers will consider the potential long-term impact on students and teachers. Of particular interest are projects with the potential for scholarship (conference presentations, publications, etc.). Please consider how your proposal might be designed to maximize its scholarly impact.

The application process will have 2 phases.

Phase 1: Preproposals – Letter of intent (1-page)
Phase 2: Full proposal – Invited via phase 1 selection

Scholars developing a full proposal may contact educationists or experienced educational scholars for assistance with the experimental and research design. A list of scholars who have volunteered to support research proposal development will be circulated.

As you prepare your (pre)proposal, address the following questions:

6. Please provide a brief overview of the experimental design of the study

7. Collaborative proposals prepared by faculty from 2 or more RTA member colleges will receive special consideration. If your proposal involves faculty and/or students from multiple Colleges of Veterinary Medicine, describe how efforts will be coordinated across locations.
  - Investigators work as educators at the following RTA CVM(s)
  - List the locations (CVM[s]) where research will be conducted
  - Describe how you plan to coordinate efforts across geographically separate units
